Hospital has a New Advanced Nurse Practitioner
Mangum, Oklahoma (October 28, 2007) –Mangum Community Hospital has appointed Bridget Moss as an advanced registered nurse (ARNP) to serve the Mangum Clinic as well as Hollis and Granite.
An ARNP is a registered nurse practitioner who is qualified to function independently. To work as a practitioner, a person must first have a bachelor’s of science in nursing or a related degree. Then they must complete a master’s degree from a nurse practitioner program.
A nurse practitioner does not need oversight from a physician. In most states, a nurse practitioner can open their own clinic. ARNPs can also prescribe medicine to patients. They learn about the patients and advise them on emotional and social problems which affect the patient’s health.
As an ARNP, Moss will be able to perform physical exams, diagnostic testing, develop and carry out treatment programs as well as interview patients and take medical histories.
Moss grew up in Hollis, OK. After high school graduation she headed south to work on her bachelor’s of science in nursing at Texas Tech University. Then, she decided to continue her education at Texas A&M University. There she received a master’s degree specializing in being a family nurse practitioner.
Moss practiced first in Hollis, and then spent more than a year practicing medicine with a well known Internalist in Elk City, OK. She then moved back to Hollis and practiced there until she started at Mangum Community Hospital this month.
In her spare time, Moss enjoys spending time with her friends and family. She has two grown sons who are both married, and she has four grandchildren ages four months to three years.
“I love to spend time with friends and most of all taking care of people,” said Moss.
