New Developments at MCH

Mangum, Oklahoma (March 7, 2007) – Following its two busiest months of the year in January and February, Blackhawk Healthcare is implementing some the most significant improvements at Mangum Community Hospital since taking over the facility from the City.  If you’ve visited the hospital in the past month, you may have noticed an entirely new public entrance with fully automatic doors and new carpeting.

These new improvements are minor compared to the latest upgrade in technology in store for the hospital.  Blackhawk’s President, Todd Biederman, and Chairman, Matt Hainline, announced a decision to purchase and install a new state-of-the-art Toshiba 4-slice CT scanner later this month.  The new computerized axial tomography scanner will significantly upgrade the quality of CT images in addition to offering several new procedures heretofore unavailable in the county.

Changes are taking place in other areas as well.   Over the next several weeks, specialized billing and collections functions will be transferred off-site to a newly-acquired central business office in Rockdale, Texas.  This is a major move in an attempt to reduce bad debts and improve the hospital’s cash flow position.

Following a comprehensive review of internal hospital operations, a decision was also reached to strengthen the hospital’s admitting services.  Blackhawk authorized the upgrade of their existing computer system and reorganization of its administrative services areas.   Brian Roland, Assistant Administrator, announced the addition of three new positions in the hospital’s administrative, medical records and primary Clinic areas.

Ms. Lauretta Stephens has already been promoted to the new Clinic Office manager slot and interviews are underway to fill the remaining openings.  Plans are also under consideration to relocate MCH’s primary care clinics outside of the hospital to accommodate anticipated growth in patient volumes.
Mangum Community Hospital provides vital health care services to our community and deserves your support.  Its services include acute care hospitalization, swing beds, minor surgery, endoscopy, magnetic imaging, sleep studies, physical therapy and of course, primary care.   We appreciate your patronage and support.
